I received an interesting question from a friend via email today, and I thought I would share my answer with the scroggles community.
My friend came upon a particularly interesting passage in 2 Samuel 2.16 which reads “Each caught his opponent by the head and drove his sword into his side; and thus they all fell together. Hence the place was called the Field of Sides; it is at Gibeon” (The New Jerusalem Bible). His question centered around the proper translation of the phrase חלקת הצדים chelkath hatsadim Field of Sides.
